I recently read an article about why do moms kill their children. Maternal filicide is a mother killing their own children. This is very rare and while reading this article I wondered to myself, how could this happen? How can a mother kill her own child that came out of her? One common factor when mothers commit that crime is extreme mental illness. Other countries have infanticide laws that reduce the penalty for mothers who kill their children. The article says " British law allows mothers to be charged with manslaughter rather than murder if they have a mental disorder. Women who are convicted of infanticide there often receive probation and mental health treatment referrals rather than incarceration, according to Resnick’s report." Another reason why mothers commit that crime is because of stress and isolation. The article also says " Resnick also found that those rates increased with economic stress and social isolation, and offenders also experienced psychiatric disorders."

The Book of Job
The Book of Job is different from other stories in the Old Testament that I have read in many ways. In the beginning, Satan gives Job a test that makes him suffer painfully. In the story of Abraham, God was testing his loyalty and it was his choice. In the story of Job, he only did it as a bet with Satan. Satan takes away all of Job's belongings and makes him suffer from pain with sores all over his body. It's the worst thing I've ever ever from the Old Testament. After Job's torturing is done, God rewards him. In the story of Abraham, God takes away his son to test his loyalty. In the Book of Job, God takes everything away from Job.

Taoist texts
Taoist texts can help deepen our understanding of early Chinese history by allowing us to understand their culture and lifestyle during that period. Many people think that Taoism is going with the flow and not going against the flow. Taoist priests teach a set of rules and mortality. I learned that the early history of Taoism was different and it was a theocracy based on celestial matters. The celestial matter was supposed to make a new political establishment called the great peace that every person would be treated right.

Is our world real?
I recently read the article Are We Living in a Computer Simulation? in class today. It talked about how we are just characters in some giant computer game and we wouldn't know it. The idea is the universe is a simulation. I find this theory to be interesting because I have never thought to myself before , "Am I just a character in a video game and someone else is controlling it?" I don't believe in this theory because I believe that nature controls us. I believe that our world is real because we live in a physical world and I do really exist.

first month of high school finished (:
It's the end of September and the beginning of fall. I started high school on the beginning of this month. High school isn't that bad. It's by far much more better than Middle School. The teachers here are much more nicer and they actually want their students to enjoy what they're learning and to do good. The teachers in my high school are very interesting and not boring at all. I love the privilege of having freedom in this school. I didn't enjoy having a social studies quiz on the first week but that's alright because I guess it's just high school. I wish I had a lunch period but it's fine because I eat snacks in my math class. My favorite class so far is my intermediate studio art class. The teacher is really cool and I like his raspy voice. I also enjoy getting more sleep because when I went to school in the middle school, I was sometimes half dead. I'm looking forward to my next fours years of high school.

God
What I learned from completeling this assignment is that God was once an angry person. I've been told only that God was always a nice miracle worker and cares about his people, but after doing this assignment, I learned that he wasn't so nice in the beginning. I was surprised about God's characterization in Genesis 6-9 because I was never told that God created a flood to kill all the living beings on land. I would never have thought that God got mad at his people for being violent so he just drowned them. I get that he didn't want evil to spread because then the world would just be wicked. I was told that God is a forgiving person and in the Genesis it showed God giving humans another chance to be on land again after killing the others in the flood. Another thing I learned from this assigment is that God made humans as a reflection of himself and I find that very interesting. I didn't know God intended to make us that way because humans make mistakes all the time and I have been told that God makes no mistakes, he is perfect. I learned from reading the Genesis one through nine that God makes mistakes just like humans. Looking back at other assignments, it is true that there have been many flood stories in different cultures. I'm glad I got to learn more about God from the beginning in the Genesis because I got to learn more about things that weren't taught to me. I enjoyed reading the Genesis because it was actually interesting and also reading the Genesis as literature and not for religious reasons. This assignment overall was not boring and everything about it was interesting.

The Garden of Eden
In Genesis 2-3, Adam and Eve were kicked out of The Garden of Eden by God. Eve ate the forbidden fruit and she gave to her husband who ate it as well. They were both told by God to never eat the apple or they would die. Adam and Eve were kicked out because they did disobeyed God's command. Eve was deceived by the serpent. Who's fault was it that they were kicked out? Eve. God told her what would happen if she ate the forbidden fruit but she didn't listen to him. It was her choice to and God doesn't have the power to control another being and their minds. If God knows everything, then he knew this would happen. Why did God let this serpent inside The Garden of Eden? I understand that maybe God wanted to challenge Adam and Eve but they were both human and made a mistake. Humans sometimes follow what other humans do for whatever reason and that is what happened with Adam and Eve. Eve is a part of Adam and they were lovers. God would have known that the serpent would tempt Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. In the Genesis it says, "And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground-trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." God made that tree for a reason. He made it so it was pleasing to the eye and good for food. Of course Eve would eat it. Adam knew what was to obey and disobey but he just made the wrong choice and made a mistake. Again why did God let the serpent inside the Garden of Eden? It was his power to do so. You have to grow and learn from your mistakes. Eve and Adam were only human and had the power to control their thoughts and choices. God didn't. Eve was the reason why they were both kicked out.
