first month of high school finished (:

It's the end of September and the beginning of fall. I started high school on the beginning of this month. High school isn't that bad. It's by far much more better than Middle School. The teachers here are much more nicer and they actually want their students to enjoy what they're learning and to do good. The teachers in my high school are very interesting and not boring at all. I love the privilege of having freedom in this school. I didn't enjoy having a social studies quiz on the first week but that's alright because I guess it's just high school. I wish I had a lunch period but it's fine because I eat snacks in my math class. My favorite class so far is my intermediate studio art class. The teacher is really cool and I like his raspy voice. I also enjoy getting more sleep because when I went to school in the middle school, I was sometimes half dead. I'm looking forward to my next fours years of high school.

God

What I learned from completeling this assignment is that God was once an angry person. I've been told only that God was always a nice miracle worker and cares about his people, but after doing this assignment, I learned that he wasn't so nice in the beginning. I was surprised about  God's characterization in Genesis 6-9 because I was never told that God created a flood to kill all the living beings on land. I would never have thought that God got mad at his people for being violent so he just drowned them. I get that he didn't want evil to spread because then the world would just be wicked.  I was told that God is a forgiving person and in the Genesis it showed God giving humans another chance to be on land again after killing the others in the flood. Another thing I learned from this assigment is that God made humans as a reflection of himself and I find that very interesting. I didn't know God intended to make us that way because humans make mistakes all the time  and I have been told that God makes no mistakes, he is perfect. I learned from reading the Genesis one through nine that God makes mistakes  just like humans. Looking back at other assignments, it is true that there have been many flood stories in different cultures.  I'm glad   I got to learn more about God  from the beginning in the Genesis because I got to learn more about things that weren't taught to me.  I enjoyed reading the Genesis because it was actually interesting and also reading the Genesis as literature and not for religious reasons. This assignment overall was not boring and everything about it was interesting.

The Garden of Eden

In Genesis 2-3, Adam and Eve were kicked out of The Garden of Eden by God. Eve ate the forbidden fruit and she gave to her husband who ate it as well. They were both told by God to never eat the apple or they would die. Adam and Eve were kicked out because they did disobeyed God's command. Eve was deceived  by the serpent. Who's fault was it that they were kicked out? Eve. God told her what would happen if she ate the forbidden fruit but she didn't listen to him. It was her choice to and God doesn't have the power to control another being and their minds.  If God knows everything, then he knew this would happen. Why did God let this serpent inside The Garden of Eden? I understand that maybe God wanted to challenge Adam and Eve but they were both human and made a mistake. Humans sometimes follow what other humans do for whatever reason and that is what happened with Adam and Eve. Eve is a part of Adam and they were lovers. God would have known that the serpent would tempt Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. In the Genesis it says, "And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground-trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." God made that tree for a reason. He made it so it was pleasing to the eye and good for food. Of course Eve would eat it. Adam knew what was to obey and disobey but he just made the wrong choice and made a mistake. Again why did God let the serpent inside the Garden of Eden? It was his power to do so. You have to grow and learn from your mistakes. Eve and Adam were only human and had the power to control their thoughts and choices. God didn't. Eve was the reason why they were both kicked out.

Utnapishtim vs. Manu

In the Hindu flood story, a fish warned Manu of a flood coming and told him to build a ship. When the flood started, the fish came and Manu tied the ship to it's horn. The fish led him to a northern mountain and told Manu to tie the ships rope to a tree to prevent it from drifting. Manu asked for the power to preserve all existing things. A carp later fell in his hands and the fish told Manu to preserve it.  Manu moved it to larger vessels and eventually moving it to the river Ganga and then to the ocean.  Manu realized it was the god Braham that filled the oceans. It told Manu that yuga was ending and soon everything would be covered in water.  Manu had to preserve all creatures and plants on a ship which he had to built. Manu did what he was told and the flood was only for seven days. Manu's ship remained and preserved all creatures and plants.  In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the gods were mad at the mortals below them so they wanted to kill all of them by causing a flood that lasted six days and six nights. The Hindu flood, was seven days and seven nights. The destruction of the world was for natural things not punishment like in the epic of Gilgamesh. Both stories are alike in some ways like being told by a god(s) that a flood was coming and to build a boat to save other beings. After the flood in the epic of Gilgamesh ended, Utnapishtim released a dove. In the Hindu flood story, Manu did not send a dove.
